The 411 on Healthy Nails
We all know these are unprecedented times. So much has changed in the past few months, so many plans put on hold. During this COVID_ 19 outbreak, we want to motivate people to remember self-care. As we’ve said before, self-care is so important. With our salons closed, some of you may be finding it hard to get your beauty care done. But don’t stress, we’ve got some tips to help you get your nails healthy for your next appointment.
- Avoid Biting your nails – For some its a coping mechanism. We know its unprecedented times and we are all sitting on the edge waiting for some positive news. However, our nails shouldn’t have to suffer during this process. Apply nail polish or even hot pepper. This would help you avoid biting your nails. Giving them a chance to grow.
- Wear gloves when cleaning – We are all wearing gloves almost everywhere nowadays for our protection. So why not when we are doing a bit of spring cleaning and the dishes. In many cleaning products, there are some harmful chemicals for your nails. Especially when washing the dishes for a long period of time you’re soaking your nails making them weaker.
- Practice some nail hygiene – With all this spare time, you can do a manicure at home. Regular cutting of your nails would help maintain your hygiene as bacteria tends to harbour under the fingernails. Check out our manicure blog to see how it’s done!
- Don’t pick away at polish – It can be tempting sometimes to peel at you polish especially when you don’t have nail polish remover. But don’t as it makes your nails weak. If you need an alternative removal try lemon juice( not to be used regularly!!)
Apply a base coat – This can go a long way in having healthy nails. A base coat not only protects your nails. It also strengthens your nails and fills ridges. So you can avoid your nails chipping.
Following these simple steps is just the beginning of having healthy nails. As soon as the salons open your nails would be ready for a luxury manicure treatment.
